Easter 2024

if you're planning on coming in to the museum over Easter, we will be closed on Easter Friday but open every other day, 10am - 3pm as normal.

NEW TO THE MUSEUM

New to the museum collection is the recently published book "Splashdown", written by Russell Smith, the original owner and pilot of Float Air, based in Picton in the 1970's and 80s.

Russell writes stories of incredible happenings, some adventurous, many humorous, and some just plain harrowing, during the early years of the company in the seventies and eighties. There are those who owe their lives to the seaplanes over those years. At times, the pilots flew in all weathers and hazardous conditions when called upon in emergencies, and in one case an almost impossible flight was made, in pitch darkness, to save the life of a toddler.
